Also when they say tuned in drop D or half a step down, is it advisable to play with every string half a step down or to just make up ur own without re-tuning your guitar?

My friend and his dad who has been playing acoustic a while longer than me, both agree that tabs will not help you learn guitar. They say it actually makes it harder, and think that i should stop using tabs immediately. Is there any truth to this? Because, i would **** to be making anything harder, or screwing myself over…
